How it all began

Medik8 began with a clear purpose: to create skincare rooted in science, backed by rigorous research and proven to deliver visible results.

I studied physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry at the University of Leeds. After spending five years backpacking through different cultures and climates, I returned with a renewed appreciation for sustainability, fair trade and natural ingredients, aspects that were beginning to shape the future of skincare. I believed in those principles, but I also saw the power of clinical science. My vision was to bring those worlds together.

From a small lab in the back of my father’s pharmacy, I started to develop what would eventually become Medik8, a professional-grade skincare brand built on research-led innovation, proven performance and uncompromising integrity.

My goal was always to simplify and demystify the approach to anti-ageing skincare. My guiding principle, “Vitamin C and sunscreen by day, vitamin A by night,” remains the foundation of the Medik8 approach. This streamlined strategy distils decades of research into a practical routine that helps skin appear more youthful, glowing and resilient over time.

By offering progressive strengths of powerhouse ingredients like vitamin C and vitamin A, each routine can adapt as your skin evolves, allowing you to continue building targeted and noticeable results. This is the foundation of our promise: Beautiful Skin for Life.

15+ years of skincare innovation

With over 15 years of experience developing professional-grade formulas, I’m still closely involved in our innovation process, especially when it comes to advancing the CSA philosophy. As a long-standing member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to multiple patented technologies across areas like retinoids, antioxidants, brightening agents and growth factors.

At Medik8, we continue to challenge outdated ideas in skincare, staying focused on intelligent formulation, measurable results and high standards, from concept to clinic.

The CSA Philosophy® 

While skincare often feels overwhelming, the CSA Philosophy® was created to cut through the noise. Built on a trio of powerhouse ingredients, vitamin C, sunscreen and vitamin A, it offers a focused, clinically backed framework for visibly younger-looking skin. 

By targeting the key pillars of ageing, free radical damage, UV exposure and visible signs of ageing, the philosophy delivers real, visible results without unnecessary complexity. And unlike trend-led routines that change with the seasons, CSA is designed to evolve with your skin long term. 

Thoughtful formulation, responsible practice

At Medik8, every formula begins with a question: what does the skin truly need to thrive and how can we deliver it with precision and care? Our ingredient philosophy is rooted in research, efficacy and skin respect. We prioritise proven actives, balanced formulations and pH-appropriate delivery systems to ensure performance without unnecessary irritation. 

Nearly all Medik8 products are developed and manufactured in-house at our ISO-certified facility in the UK. This allows us to maintain tight control over quality and compliance, from raw ingredient sourcing to final product testing.

We're also proud to be a certified B Corp™, a reflection of our ongoing commitment to people, planet and transparency. As a manufacturer, we take full responsibility for how we create, choosing to own our production and power it with 100% renewable energy. From our packaging decisions to the partners we work with, sustainability is not a side initiative, it’s built into the way Medik8 is made.

In keeping with our B Corp™ commitments, we publish an annual Impact Report to share how we’re progressing against our environmental and social goals. The report combines clear data with meaningful context, highlighting both the achievements we’re proud of and the areas where we continue to learn, improve and stay accountable.

Ethical by design

At Medik8, animal testing has no place in our product development. Verifying our suppliers’ compliance with this policy is a standard and essential part of our formulation process.

As of July 2019, every product we manufacture is 100% vegan-friendly. While our formulations have never contained animal-derived ingredients, a small number once included by-products such as yoghurt extract. These have now been removed through formula updates without compromise to performance.

In line with our sustainability values, we avoid unnecessary waste. Rather than discarding non-vegan products already in circulation, we’ve chosen to let them naturally sell through our global clinic and salon network. Once those final units are gone, every Medik8 product and kit will be fully vegan.
