Skin needling works through two modes of action:

  1. The needles penetrate through the skin to provide micro-channels to maximise the absorption of the topically applied skincare product

What is the Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller?

The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller is a multipurpose device used for the treatment of various skin conditions such as wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, cellulite and stretch marks.

It has a cylindrical barrel with precision engineered titanium microneedles which penetrate the top layers of skin without causing damage or bleeding.

What is the Medik8 Titanium Dermastamp?

The Medik8 Titanium Dermastamp is an alternative, targeted form of skin needling, boasting the benefits of the Titanium Dermaroller but with enhanced precision for specific, localised skin problems and hard to reach areas. The Titanium Dermastamp has a circular head comprising 38 titanium microneedles with an enhanced grip for greater control and accuracy and suitable for use on the delicate under-eye and peri-oral areas.

This innovative device can be used in combination with the Dermaroller or as a separate treatment for independent skin concerns.

 
How does it work?

The procedure involved in treatment with the Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller and Titanium Dermastamp is commonly known as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy and is designed to trigger new collagen synthesis in the skin, leading to younger, brighter and healthier-looking skin. As you roll or stamp the device over your skin, numerous, ultra-fine micro-needles designed to penetrate through the epidermis create microscopic punctures on the skin’s surface. By opening the skin in this way you not only dramatically increase the penetration of any topical product, increasing its efficacy, but you also create miniature perforations that stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms, increasing production of many important factors for a healthy skin.

The concept of Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage, such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin, our body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones. Skin Needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self repair mechanism by creating micro-“injuries” in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring.

Most dermatological skin needling devices designed for use on facial skin are made from stainless steel, which can blunt easily with daily use. The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller and Titanium Dermastamp needles are engineered in Sweden from pure titanium giving a finer and much more durable edge, eliminating excess irritation caused by ordinary steel needles.

Furthermore, each individual Medik8 Titanium microneedle is gold plated to maintain sterility. This technology produces extremely accurate and pinpoint punctures in the skin, with the aim of improving the treatment results, while ensuring user health and safety. No other skin needling device is made with titanium needles, so only the Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller and Titanium Dermastamp can be reused intensively for 3-6 months.



Optimum Microneedle Length

Studies indicate the Medik8 Titanium Skin Needling device needles need to penetrate the upper layer of skin for best results. The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller and Titanium Dermastamp have a variety of needle lengths for optimum results without appreciable pain or injury.

The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller is available in 2 versions for personal use. A 0.2mm version is recommended for people with very thin, delicate or pain sensitive skin, as well as for skin needling beginners. A 0.3mm personal version is available for tougher skin types, those who are not new to microneedle rollers and would like to obtain more spectacular results.
Longer needles can cause pain if not used by experts accompanied by topical anaesthetic creams. The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller is also available in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5mm needle lengths for clinical use only and 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 3.0mm needle lengths for medical use only.
