FY22 CLIMATE ACTION PROGRESS
In December 2021, we obtained Website Neutral Certification - meaning we calculated and offset all our customer deliveries since we launched our consumer website in 2013.
In 2022, we measured our carbon footprint across the entire company for the first time and have set out appropriate plans to reduce it. Our total emissions in FY21were 6019t.
We have also set a Science Based Target, which was validated by the SBTi and published on their website, committing to reducing our Scope 1 & 2 (direct) emissions by 42% by 2025. We are firmly on track to achieving this target.
*Our financial year runs from Oct to Sept.
WHAT IS CERTIFIED CARBON NEUTRAL
In 2022, we obtained our first company-wide Carbon Neutral Certification.
To become certified a company must measure its carbon emissions for the entirety of its business, set a plan for reduction and offset the emissions. A 3rd party accredited Carbon expert must verify all the data in line with international standards (GHG Protocol and PAS 2060) and, if all conditions are met, issue a certification.
The 6019t C02e we emitted in FY21 were offset equally between three Gold Standard projects - Rimba Raya (biodiversity reserve project), Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary (reduced emissions from deforestation and degradation) and Terraclear (clean water access for families in Laos).

OUR NEW INNOVATION CENTRE
We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings in a shed. In 2022, we moved all of our manufacturing, distribution, R&D and supply chain teams to our new, state-of-the-art HQ near Aylesbury.
Apart from the many operational benefits, the IC will also significantly contribute to saving energy as well as reducing our emissions and operational waste.
It features a solar array on the roof, electric charging points for employees and a reverse osmosis machine which will help to save water.
LESS AIR FREIGHT
As part of our carbon neutral certification, we have identified air freight as a key area where we can reduce our emissions fast. In FY22, we reduced our carbon emissions from transportation, simply by shipping more by boat and road than by air.
This not only benefits the planet, but also Medik8 as a business.
100% RENEWABLE ENERGY
Since 2018, we have only purchased renewable energy to power our manufacturing site and offices.
As of September 2022, when we moved to our new Innovation Centre, we became virtually zero across Scopes 1 and 2 (direct) emissions.
We are constantly investigating how we can support more direct renewable energy generation, such as via additional solar panel installations and wind turbines.
